Pizza Anyone?

Tanner will be having his 4th birthday tomorrow so I made his cake tonight. He is having a pizza party so he wanted a pizza cake. I have to say that I am pretty proud of myself. If you look closely you will see that the "pizza sauce" is pink but there was nothing I could do.I went through 3 bottles (2 small and 1 large) of red food coloring and that is as dark as I could get the frosting. I made sure to cover it with lots of "cheese" (toasted coconut) so that it wasn't very visible.
Sauce: frosting
Cheese: toasted coconut
Pepperoni: fruit rollups
Green peppers: fruit rollups
Olives: black jelly beans cut like olives (icky but creative)
Parm cheese on top: grated white chocolate

He speaks!

Gavin has decided to try out a few new words...at 1:30 in the morning he was crying and I went in his room to see what was wrong. I picked him up, he stopped crying, and he said, "HI" It was so sweet though I didn't really appreciate it in the middle of the night. He is such a sweet boy who loves to laugh and dance and bite his brother. (It's more like a nibble)
He also says: mamamama, dadadada, num-num (food), nana (both boys said nana (grandma) before anything else. He loves to shake his head no whenever you ask him a question and then laughs after, it's funny because most of the time we know he means yes.
We adore our little man and love to watch him do new things.

Nie Nie

I am not sure how many of you know the story of the Nielson family in Arizona. I know that many have links on their blogs. Stephanie Nielson is a young mother in Arizona who, along with her husband Christian, was in a horrible plane crash in August. Both Stephanie and Christian were severely burned and remain in the hospital. Their 4 children are being taken care by family members. Back in June a friend of mine sugested that I go read Stephanie's blog. She is very easy to relate to when it comes to motherhood and she is a great example of how to live the gospel. The new link on the side of my blog is the blog belonging to her sister. She is amazing at updating on how her sister and brother-in-law are doing in their recovery. When you get to C Jane's blog you can follow the link to the nienie dialoges and check out Stephanie's blog. They have links to online sales and donation sites for money to help with the millions of dollars in medical bills that are adding up quickly. Following this blog has surely helped me to make sure that I put the important things in my life..my husband, my children, my family, my religion...first before all other things.
I hope that this touches your heart also

The Case of the Disappearing Pants

Let me tell you one thing I really hate...when things disappear without any explanation! Tanner wore his jeans a few weeks ago to a birthday party. They are now missing!! They aren't in the laundry, or in his room, our room, or anywhere else for that matter. This wouldn't be so frustrating but he is getting his pictures taken for his birthday and I need the jeans. UGH!
I drove 30 minutes to Burlington today so that I could buy him a new pair...they didn't have any.
I then looked online and found some at KMart for $7.99, very nice pants...went to KMart, they don't have any. Why is it that you can never find anything when you need it, but it is ready and available when it is furthest from your mind and you aren't in dire need of it. Next on my list is Old Navy, I have to make sure that they have an adjustable waistband for my stick figure of a child so I am limited on where I can find them. Oh, the joys of motherhood... (please stay tuned...I am sure that the old jeans will reappear as soon as I get back from buying the new ones)
